The Golden Perch
This tavern was a favourite for many Hobbit folk, reputedly having the best beer in Eastfarthing, if Peregrine Took’s memory of it is anything to go by (or was it simply the place where he tasted his first pint?)
Close by the premises was a large pond which was well stocked with big game fish, hence the pub’s name.
Situated in the townland of Stock and Rushey, many a Bucklander would have found his way to this popular waterhole.
The Golden Perch was run by the Grubb family, notably by the present landlord Fred Grubb, and his twin sons Robert and William. The Grubbs gave good service, decent food and great ale…even if the prices were slightly higher than other establishments.
